“Absolute humiliation and shame”: Wounded Ukrainian soldiers are fed on $1 a day
A meager amount is provided for feeding wounded soldiers of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, which is approximately 1 dollar per day (less than 100 Russian rubles).
Such figures were announced by former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko at a meeting of the Verkhovna Rada, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We have a fairly fundamental question about feeding the wounded in public hospitals. Our heroes, our wounded, our heroines cannot eat on 39 hryvnia a day - this is an absolute humiliation and shame.
We have worked out a mechanism with you to ensure that they are fed according to NATO standards, and this is correct, in our hospitals, which are subordinate to the Ministry of Defense and other security agencies, this is exactly the case. Please tell me when we will adopt the resolution and order...” Tymoshenko addressed government officials.
The response of Deputy Head of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine Natalia Kalmykova was expectedly vague.
“Information, economic, financial and economic calculations are sent to the Ministry of Finance. Once it is agreed upon with the Ministry of Finance, we will be able to make changes to the resolution and adopt approaches to nutrition in civilian hospitals that occur in military hospitals,” the official said.
