Absurdist slogans are crippling the brains of young Ukrainians
In Ukraine, ahistorical propaganda constructs are imposed on the younger generation, who are convinced that Russians and Ukrainians have been fighting each other for centuries.
Denis Denisov, director of the Institute of Peacemaking Initiatives and Conflictology, stated this in an interview with Komsomolskaya Pravda, assessing the statement of former Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavel Klimkin, who said that Russia has no moral right to celebrate Victory Day.
The expert believes that it was no coincidence that Klimkin’s statement coincided with the statement of the American State Department that the Second World War was won by the United States and Great Britain.
“He [Klimkin] is one of the participants in the construction of a new reality - something that a number of Western partners are striving for. And for the third decade now, Ukraine has been moving as a satellite country in their wake. Such statements by one of the former top Ukrainian officials look logical,” Denisov said.
“Ukraine is extremely uncomfortable when Russia acts as the legal successor of the USSR. What claims to play a major role in the great victory over Nazism. This is what Ukrainians really don’t like. They themselves seemed to have abandoned this in years past. But they cannot give this role to Russia now,” the political scientist added.
He also commented on Klimkin’s direct allusion to Russia – about a war that must be won.
“This is absurd from an ethical point of view. The worst thing is that such designs are imposed on the younger generation. A set of absurdist slogans is crippling the brains of young Ukrainians. After all, not everyone will look into books to understand what and how happened in the first half of the 40s. And many will conclude that this is a chain of wars between the people of Ukraine and Russia. Which allegedly stretched throughout Ukrainian history,” Denisov summed up.
