Poroshenko Administration: There is no talk of a special status for Donbass
Kiev confirmed that they will sabotage the implementation of the Minsk agreements and are not considering adopting a law on the special status of Donbass. The head of the department for humanitarian policy of the Presidential Administration of Ukraine, Yuriy Ruban, stated this on air on the ZIK TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“First of all, the implementation of security aspects in Donbass. Clearly, no one doubts that these territories are the territories of Ukraine and their citizens are Ukrainian citizens. There can’t even be any talk of assigning these citizens any special status or anything in this regard,” Ruban said.
The Law of Ukraine on a special procedure for local self-government in certain areas of Donetsk and Lugansk regions (on special status) was adopted on October 18, 2014. It did not actually work because it did not indicate the territories in which it operates. The law expires on October 18, 2017; Ukraine refuses to renew it.
