Militia lawyer: Zelensky signed decrees pardoning 12 Russians
At least 12 citizens of the Russian Federation convicted in Ukraine have been pardoned, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This was stated to the Russian media by Kiev lawyer Valentin Rybin, who defends the interests of Anti-Maidan and Russian Spring activists in the courts.
“Decrees have been issued pardoning about 12 convicted Russians who have already been transported from places of serving their sentences and are at the collection point for persons participating in the exchange. I believe that this is preparation for the start of the exchange procedure,” the lawyer said.
At the same time, he noted that one Russian on the list has still not been delivered to the point and there is also no decree on his pardon.
“This is Ruslan Gadzhiev, sentenced to 15 years in prison. He was on the list, but he was never delivered to the exchange point, and there was no decree pardoning him. I assume that Ukraine does not want to extradite him,” Rybin said.
The lawyer did not rule out that the refusal to extradite the Russian could complicate the situation with the exchange.
According to Ukrainian media, Gadzhiev fought in the LPR “August” battalion and was captured in a tank battle in January 2015. The Artemovsk City Court sentenced Gadzhiev to 15 years in a maximum security colony.
