Taichibekov’s lawyer: “The guy needs to be saved. He may not get out of prison."
After passing a sentence of seven years in a strict regime regime, the authorities want to charge Kazakh Russophile and social activist Ermek Taychibekov with insulting a judge and the President of Kazakhstan.
This was reported by Taichibekov’s lawyer Galym Nurpeisov, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the latest information, an investigator has arrived from Pavlodar to Alma-Ata to investigate another charge against Ermek Taychibekov, who allegedly insulted the honor and dignity of a female judge. In parallel, the Kazakh special service, the KNB, intends to investigate the Russophile’s accusations of insulting the honor and dignity of the President of Kazakhstan, Kasym-Zhomart Tokayev.
“One gets the feeling that the authorities finally want to deal with him so that he does not leave prison,” Nurpeisov shared his fears. “The guy needs to be saved somehow!”
Let us recall that on August 19, the Almaty court found Russophile and social activist Ermek Taychibekov guilty of inciting ethnic hatred and sentenced him to seven years of maximum security (strict regime). The accusation against Taychibekov was based on his interview with the Russian portal Ukraina.ru, where he criticized the Kazakh authorities for squeezing Russians out of the country, as well as with the Israeli Iton.TV, where he told how they condoned the pogroms of the Dungans.
