“Three Ukrainian nationalists, one of the former leaders of the UNA-UNSO Nikolai Karpyuk, a teacher at the Kyiv Transport and Economic College Stanislav Klykh and the unemployed Alexander Malofeev, will appear before the courts of Chechnya on charges of murdering federal soldiers in Grozny in 1994-1995,” the newspaper recalls. . “The nationalists fought on the side of the militants as part of the Viking battalion of the UNA-UNSO.”
The ICR informed the publication that the criminal case of Alexander Malofeev was separated into separate proceedings, since the accused entered into a pre-trial cooperation agreement, which guarantees the accused a minimum term, and his case will be considered by the Shatoi District Court of Chechnya.
At the same time, the accused Nikolai Karpyuk and Stanislav Klykh will soon appear before the Supreme Court of Chechnya.
“The defense of the accused, as Kommersant learned, will try to get their criminal prosecution terminated due to the expiration of the statute of limitations, which under the “old” Criminal Code was 15 years,” notes Kommersant. “However, according to the law, crimes for which the death penalty is provided and which pose a special public danger do not have a statute of limitations. The accused were not included in the amnesty declared for participants in the armed confrontation in Chechnya, since they were accused of committing serious and especially serious crimes.”
