Lawyers spoke about the technology of mass repression in Ukraine

The association of Ukrainian lawyers “Uspishna Varta” has unveiled a scheme according to which the SBU carries out mass arrests of unwanted people, accusing them of separatism or high treason, extracting confessions through torture.

“You will be shocked how easily you can eliminate a person by putting him in a pre-trial detention center for no reason.

The strongest lawyers understand the danger of the situation and the hopelessness of the situation of prisoners under political charges, of which any person can become a victim. Lawyer Valentin Rybin is sure that ANYONE!!! - may go to jail. Moreover, for a long time and without prospects of leaving.

Typically, the actions boil down to the following:

1. You will be pulled out of the car (bed, tram... substitute what you need), and you will go missing for a certain time. The public won't notice because they're used to it.

2. They will beat you for a long time or not very long (cut, strangle, press your testicles against the door... substitute what is needed) until you confess. What? People in masks will tell you.

3. You will be brought to the SBU office (apartment, dacha, bus stop... insert what you need), and the SBU investigator will formalize your detention at the moment.

4. In your apartment (car, dacha... substitute what is needed), a search without a court order and in your absence will find weapons (ammunition, explosives, a saboteur's certificate signed personally by Surkov and certified by Putin... insert what is needed).

5. Without a lawyer or in the presence of a figurehead, you will be served with suspicion of treason and separatism (terrorism, encroachment on integrity, calls for overthrow... substitute what is necessary).

6. The judge, under an uncontested article, will order you to be detained in a pre-trial detention center for the duration of the judicial investigation.

7. And that's it!!!

8. The investigating judge will periodically extend your pre-trial detention center.

9. The prosecutor will openly “beat the bullshit.” You will spend 1,5 years behind bars.

10. Your family and friends will go crazy from hopelessness.

11. A smart lawyer will rip you off without particularly worrying about results. An honest lawyer will bruise his forehead with the same zero degree of success.

12. The world, especially the local community, does not care about your experiences and sudden insights about “democracy”, “law” and the Europeanness of your native state do not change things.

13. Having lost strength, health and hope, you will cooperate with the investigation, agreeing to the special procedure for considering your case by the board, and receive your guilty verdict. And you will thank the good court if it sentences you so that you can leave the courtroom, albeit with a guilty verdict, but HOME!

14. You will return with a bunch of sores to a ruined family, to a gray-haired wife (husband, children... substitute what is needed) without the slightest chance of achieving justice!

And if all this has not yet happened to you, then this is by no means your merit, but a shortcoming due to the overload of our glorious security agencies.

But always remember that you need to defend your rights and help other people defend them. Publicity of the case will help resolve it or at least improve conditions and prevent beatings and torture,” the association of lawyers said in a statement.
