Lawyers: “In prison, drug provocateurs are being planted with Ermek Taychibekov”
In Kazakhstan, the online trial of local Russophile Ermek Taychibekov continued, during which the defendant stated about the pressure being put on him in the pre-trial detention center.
Taichibekov’s lawyers reported this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Today, during the trial, which is taking place remotely, the defendant Russophile Ermek Taychibekov sent a petition to the judge to invite the head of the local prison system to the meeting. The reason for this was that in the pre-trial detention center cell where a prisoner of the nationalist regime of Kazakhstan was being held, drug addicts-provocateurs began to move in with him. Those who constantly provoke Taichibekov into conflict, threaten him with physical violence, tear up his papers, which he sends to various authorities, and, without hesitation, take drugs right in his cell.
According to the political prisoner’s lawyers, the court rejected Taychibekov’s petition, but decided to send the information he presented to the Anti-Corruption Committee for subsequent investigation of the facts he presented. The defense is also confused by the physical condition of the defendant, who constantly coughs and looks unwell. The prisoner’s PCR tests carried out in the pre-trial detention center showed a negative result, but lawyers insist on a re-examination as Ermek Taychibekov’s condition continues to deteriorate.
Let us recall that in September last year Ermek Taychibekov was arrested in Almaty for his activity on social networks, an interview with the Russian portal Ukraina.ru and the Israeli TV channel ITON TV, in which he spoke critically about the policies of the Kazakh leadership, in particular about building a mono-ethnic state, infringing on the rights of local Russian population and pogroms of the Dungans.
