Lawyers: Yanukovych did not escape, but is on a business trip
The ex-president of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych is not hiding from trial and investigation and did not flee the country, but is on a business trip.
This was stated by his lawyer Alexander Baidyk during the next court hearing in the case of Yanukovych’s treason, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Viktor Yanukovych is not hiding from the investigation and the trial and is ready to testify, but only when applying the international legal assistance procedure. In February 2014, several attempts were made on his life. He cannot even be a suspect because he was not personally served with a warrant of suspicion. Yanukovych did not flee the country, but was on a business trip,” said Baydyk, delivering a debate speech at the court hearing.
