“I called yesterday the leader of the Russian Union of Afghanistan Veterans, Franz Klintsevich. He asked to inform the conference participants that the leaders of the Ukrainian and Russian unions of Afghan veterans addressed the Minsk site in order to extend the Minsk format not only to government bodies, but also to civil society institutions. This is something new, aimed at establishing public diplomacy. If today public organizations are able to solve the narrow problems of returning prisoners, then they can do a lot on the road to peace,” Vnukov said.
The conference is attended by scientists, political and public figures from Russia, Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics, South Ossetia and Abkhazia, Georgia, Holland, Switzerland, Italy, Finland, Palestine, India, Sri Lanka, Congo, Greece.
