Afghans ask Americans to buy them Russian weapons, US refuses
The United States refuses to purchase Russian weapons for the Afghan army and police, citing sanctions, although the Afghans ask them to do so. The special representative of the Russian President for Afghanistan, Zamir Kabulov, stated this at a press conference in Moscow today.

“Why does the United States, which is interested in the Afghan government standing and its armed forces being combat-ready, refuse to cooperate with Russia? Why don't they buy weapons that Afghans love and know how to use? The Afghan army and police are asking to supply them only with Russian weapons: aircraft, tanks, artillery, Kalashnikov assault rifles. The Americans refer to sanctions because of Ukraine, but these are empty excuses,” Kabulov said.
According to him, Russia is ready to supply small arms to Afghanistan free of charge, but would like to receive money for high-tech weapons and calls on the Afghans to ensure that they are paid for from Western funds.
“There are American troops in Afghanistan. They reduced their presence, not solving a single problem, but creating new problems. They bear political and moral responsibility for what is happening now in Afghanistan. If it’s bad there, their reputation will suffer,” Kabulov said.
