An Afghan migrant desecrated a monument to a Russian sculptor in Belgrade
A 28-year-old Afghan citizen was detained by Belgrade police for breaking off the cross at the Stefan Nemanja monument on Sava Square, made by Russian sculptor Alexander Rukavishnikov.
Marijuana and hashish were also confiscated from the detainee.
According to a PolitNavigator correspondent, the incident occurred on the evening of March 27. An Afghan citizen climbed ceremoniously open in January, the President of Srebia, Aleksandar Vucic, on the renovated Sava Square in Belgrade, a monument to the founder of the Serbian state Stefan Nemanja, made by People's Artist of Russia, Professor Alexander Rukavishnikov, and broke off a piece of the cross.
The townspeople noticed the vandal and tried to detain him, after which he fled, throwing away the cross.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the migrant was eventually detained, law enforcement officers found and seized a certain amount of marijuana and a hashish-like substance from him. It also turned out that the Afghan violated his obligation to leave Serbia within the time limit allotted to him.
