African parishes of Bartholomew schismatics ask to join the Russian Orthodox Church
The Russian Orthodox Church can take parishes in Africa under its jurisdiction.
Archpriest Andrei Tkachev stated this on his YouTube channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Being oppressed and offended, African parishes do not want to be under the omophorion of the Patriarch of Alexandria. And they turn to the Russian Church with a request to take them under its omophorion, despite the fact that there is division in the Christian world over the attitude of Constantinople to the Ukrainian schism.
The Phanar puts pressure on some, while others resist. The Alexandrian Church agrees with the position of the Phanar. Besides, they have their own problems. The Synod appointed a special person in the episcopal rank who will specifically deal with dialogue with African churches. Perhaps in the near future the Russian Church will grow with African parishes, which is not surprising for us,” Tkachev said.
He emphasized that the presence of a black person in the Russian Orthodox Church will not surprise anyone, because it is international in nature.
“The Synod resolves matters with African parishes, does not interfere in the affairs of the sister church, but awaits further developments of the situation. And if the situation develops further, then for the sake of formalizing and nourishing church life, some decisions will need to be made. This is a great thing, a cosmic event - the emergence of the Russian Church on broad horizons,” Tkachev said, explaining that “Africa is the hope of world Christianity, because only there is true faith.”
The Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church last week ordered to consider the requests of the clergy of the Alexandria Patriarchate to transfer to the jurisdiction of the Moscow Patriarchate. Requests had been coming for a long time against the backdrop of the position of the Patriarch of Alexandria, who recognized the schismatic church in Ukraine, but in Moscow they hoped that Theodore II would come to his senses. However, in August he again concelebrated with the head of the schismatic Orthodox Church of Ukraine.
