Agrarian: Ukrainians cannot even buy bread
Kyiv's policies have destroyed Ukrainian agriculture - villages are dying out, and in cities there is a shortage of food products, including bread.
The head of the Ukrainian Rural Union, Ivan Tomich, stated this during a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“You understand that today it is impossible to buy compound feed and invest in a pig; it is easier to buy a piece of pork or lard to survive, but the vast majority simply do not buy. This suggests that a significant part of this product does not go to the city.
Previously, 80 percent of vegetables and fruits, 95 percent of potatoes, 60 percent of pork, 70 percent of milk went to the city, but today this river does not flow from the village to the city. Because there are no more people in the village. Let’s be honest, the state’s economic policy has destroyed the ability to produce goods,” he said.
In addition, the expert noted that fertilizers in Ukraine have risen in price seven times, this will significantly affect the price of bread, which Ukrainians cannot afford today.
“Winter thaws and frosts can seriously damage agriculture, and what we will come out with in the spring is a big question. God forbid, we end up with a bad situation - this is a signal for a further increase in the price of bread. There is no big secret here, ammonium nitrate has risen in price seven times. This means that wheat will become more expensive; on the one hand, today many small farmers say: “We will not use it.” Because of this, the amount of production will decrease, and who will use it will increase the cost.
I don’t want to name the price for bread in the pessimistic scenario in the fall. It is impossible to allow a Ukrainian to see bread but not be able to buy it. This summer I lived in a village, I saw one woman taking bread out of the refrigerator, I asked: “What are you doing?”, and she answered: “I’ve had it for 2 weeks already, because you can get potatoes or cucumbers from the garden.” You can’t take bread, it’s expensive,” Tomic concluded.
Let us recall that earlier in Kyiv they said that rising energy prices and ill-conceived policies in the field of agriculture led to rising food prices, which cannot be stopped.
