Agrarian superpower: There are fewer cows in Ukraine than after the Holodomor
On the Ukrainian market today there is more Polish lard on sale than domestic lard, and the agricultural sector has switched to the most primitive crops.
Ukrainian political consultant Dmitry Dzhangirov spoke about this on the YouTube channel “PolitWera”, the correspondent of “PolitNavigator” reports.
“There is some symbolism, lard in Ukraine today is mainly Polish, and from other countries,” Dzhangirov said. – We import eight times more pork than we export. Our cow herd is smaller than in 1935 after the Holodomor...”
According to the Ukrainian expert, the country’s agricultural sector has switched to the simplest crops: sunflower - for which Ukraine ranks first and second in the world together with Argentina; grain - according to this indicator the country is “in the top six or seven” of leaders, rapeseed.
“Our average farm is 1200 hectares, and in Holland, which we all want to be like, it’s 33 hectares, there are small farms that deal with high-margin crops and processing.
And it turns out that they have about 70 - 80 thousand dollars of export per hectare, and we have 600 - 800 dollars. In the USA it’s $900, but there are huge farms and government subsidies. Not only are we following a disastrous path, we are also moving along it quickly,” concluded the Ukrainian political consultant.
Ранее Mikheil Saakashvili said that the only driver of the Ukrainian economy may be the sale of land.
