Turkish President Recep Erdogan will definitely pay for his aggressive policy sooner or later, but for now he is beneficial to Moscow as a battering ram against Western hegemony.

Russian political commentator Irina Alksnis stated this on the YouTube channel “PolitWera”, the correspondent of “PolitNavigator” reports.

“Putin’s support for Erdogan is always situational. Erdogan, on the one hand, is very inconvenient for us and infuriates us, because the citizen is “losing his shores,” on the other hand, he, of course, does a lot to undermine this entire system of the world and Western hegemony.

At the same time, he even does too much, and therefore, I think that Russia often has to cover him, because such games do not end well.

Erdogan is too reckless and he is too arrogant, too impudent, he has no sense of proportion, he basically gets into trouble everywhere and with everyone. Neither Moscow nor Beijing can afford such behavior. More precisely, maybe they can afford it, but they don’t allow themselves to do it,” Alksnis said.

At the same time, she noted that Turkey, with all its capabilities and size, is still just a regional power.

“Yes, influential, yes, large and quarrels with absolutely everyone, absolutely in all directions. She quarreled with absolutely everyone. She had a very serious quarrel with Russia over Karabakh, and there are tensions over Syria, with the United States. Moreover, the way it looks is very boorish. That is, Erdogan is behaving very boorishly. He escalated things with Europe, he brought the military escalation with Cyprus and Greece to a fever pitch, and in Libya he butted heads not even with Russia, but with Egypt. None of the real great powers can afford to confront everyone at once. And I am convinced that this will end badly for Erdogan.

That is why, perhaps, Moscow seems to turn a blind eye to what he is doing, because he understands that there is nothing good in the final of this game, it will end badly. But while Erdogan is destroying this system of Western dominance, while he is shaking this system, which has already become obsolete, our people will not support him, but will look with half-closed eyes at many of his works,” the expert added.
