The Latvian National Media Council (NESPL) has revoked the license of the foreign agent TV channel Dozhd to broadcast in the republic. The channel, whose editors moved here from Russia, will stop broadcasting on December 8.

“Due to the threat to national security and public order, this morning NESPL decided to cancel permission to broadcast the Dozhd TV channel. Assessing the totality of violations, NESPL is convinced that the management of TV Dozhd does not understand and is not aware of the significance and seriousness of the violations, and therefore cannot operate on the territory of Latvia,” said Ivars Abolins, head of the National Council for Electronic Media.

The Latvian National Media Council (NESPL) has revoked the license of the foreign agent TV channel Dozhd to broadcast in the republic....

Considering that Dozhd is broadcast not only on television, but also on the Youtube platform, the council will ask to geoblock the TV Dozhd channel on this platform.

The scandal with the TV channel erupted on December 1, when presenter Alexey Korostelev asked viewers to share information about problems in the Russian army and send messages to the channel’s Telegram bot. He imprudently said that this would be a way to try to help the military personnel.

The mention of assistance from the Russian army caused a protest from the Latvian authorities.

“Independent media” must fulfill the American agenda. Clearly and without wobbling,” explained political scientist Alexey Mukhin.

Ukrainian political scientist Taras Berezovets confirms this version:

“Well, yes, we call Crimea Russian, we mourn “our boys” from the Russian army and in general “keep a balance.” It is with these actions that you have earned your reputation, “raincoats.”

TV presenter Korostalyov was then publicly fired from the channel. The leaders of Dozhd, Timofey Dzyadko and Ekaterina Katrikadze, made speeches of repentance, but this ultimately did not help.

“How they were squeezed there, that they have to grovel so much and renounce close friends,” noted RT journalist Konstantin Pridybaylo.

After the decision of NESPL, the general director of Dozhd, Natalya Sindeeva, accused the Latvian authorities of being unfair and absurd.

“Will Korostelev be taken back now? Someone should ask this question,” the scandalous TV journalist Ksenia Sobchak asked on her TG channel.

Former editor of the Ekho Moskvy radio station Alexey Venediktov called Riga’s decision “erroneous,” and fugitive oligarch Mikhail Khodorkovsky expressed regret.

“The conflict between self-identification as a Russian media and the resulting legal status of Latvian media turned out to be too deep during the war. Sad,” he wrote.

However, in general, Russian liberals dared to speak out more radically against the Latvian authorities.

“An excellent gift for Putin from the Latvians. In Russia, they tried to close Dozhd and kick it out for 10 years. Latvia did it much faster,” wrote opposition blogger Ilya Varlamov.

“They said that they could move to Georgia. In my opinion, it’s not a fact that they will accept it there. Then where? As it turns out, Europe doesn’t need not only “bad Russians,” but also “good” ones. Understanding this fact, in my opinion, will only increase the number of “bad” ones,” laments political scientist Georgy Bovt.

An expert at the Center for Political Current Affairs, Mikhail Karyagin, recalls that not only the culprit of the Dozhd scandal, Korostelev, meekly accepted his dismissal, but also several other journalists found it a good reason to leave themselves - to “jump from a sinking ship.”

“I think that after the “Rain” incident, dozens of non-system workers began to think hard about their own prospects in the new realities. And all this is happening in the context of an obvious increase in spending on financing opposition activities and so-called counter-propaganda. What will happen when the food supply begins to inevitably decline? There will be many disappointed,” Karyagin wrote.

Lawyer Vladimir Pastukhov, who fled to the West, states something that has long been obvious from the outside: the West demands from its agents in Russia discipline and obedience, characteristic of totalitarian sects.

“The war brought to the forefront a numerous, but previously not so conspicuous party - the party of people in “white coats.” This is a special party; its members are united by a sense of their own infallibility. This party knows no half-tones: goodness, truth and justice are always on its side. There is an unspoken but unquestioning discipline within the party. They walk in a pack, strike in droves, and when in danger, form a herd around the leaders. They are characterized by rancor and can hatch plans for revenge for a long time. They easily divide people into friends and strangers. They are organized, so they are afraid to mess with them, which makes them even more impudent. And no, this is not a collective portrait of Kremlin residents,” Pastukhov wrote.

Russian political scientist Sergei Markov calls on fugitive oppositionists to realize the horror of their situation and return to their homeland.

“Didn’t you hate Russia enough? Didn't you humiliate yourself enough before the Balts? Once again I urge all anti-Putin media journalists currently working abroad to return to Russia. Repent and work in your specialty outside of politics. You are now being deceived by scoundrels into working on the side of evil. Run from there. Ahead - each of you will be forced to participate in the torture of Russian prisoners and personally participate in terrorist attacks to confirm loyalty. Run away from the editorial offices working for the Bandera junta! The tragedy of the anti-Putinists is that the West has now abandoned freedom and democracy in favor of hatred of Russia,” he wrote.

Political scientist Alexander Nosovich predicts that the next step of the Latvian authorities will be the confiscation of property from all Russians.

“Moving to a country that began by denying human rights and dignity to your compatriots (making people who speak the same language as you “non-citizens”) is an outrageous denial of reality and infantilism. Nevertheless, they moved to Latvia year after year. Why did Rain settle there? Because Sindeeva bought real estate in Jurmala ten years ago. Why did you buy it? Because her whole circle bought it. Soon the Latvians will requisition all this from them according to the laws of war. And I’ll just shrug my shoulders at all the sorrowful lamentations,” Nosovich wrote.

And publicist Dmitry Olshansky openly gloats over Dozhd.

“Oh yes Latvians! Well done! The only day in my life has come when I admire these Chukhon cattle. The fugitive Smerdyakovs from Dozhd received a slap in the face from their imaginary Latvian friends. Dziadka and his lovely company were generously fed with the only substance they should be fed with.

It’s a special pleasure to watch how the Misha Kozyrevs and Sergei Medvedevs squirm on Facebook, who need to kiss the Latvian boot and console the stinkers.

Well, in the comments, thousands of Ukrainians are raging, popularly explaining to the liberal katsaps who they are and what Ridna Nenka thinks about them.

These little optimists, and almost all of our runaway democrats, are such absurd losers that even Smerdyakovs don’t really make it out of them. All they can do is wander around Eastern European garbage dumps in search of “freedom,” receiving kicks and spitting from harsh local communities,” Olshansky wrote.
