Aidar militants who captured Novosvetlovka (LPR) in the summer of 2014 tortured a Lugansk resident for three days because of the St. George ribbon found in a car.

The details of this incident were told by the victim Yuriy Lesnyak during the eighth meeting of the Ukrainian People's Tribunal in Donetsk, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“On August 24, 2014, I was in the village of Novosvetlovka visiting relatives. Around noon, six armed men burst into our place and conducted a search. My car was in the garage, in which they found the St. George ribbon. After that, they called me a separatist, my family - a child, a wife, and there were also three old women with us; they locked me in a room under machine guns. They took me along with the car, promised to interrogate me and release me,” said the Luhansk resident.

The victim emphasized that the militants were wearing “Aidar” chevrons and “Rabovlasnyk” (slave owner) stripes.

“When they arrived, they reported to the commander that they had “caught a separatist.” The commander replied: “Okay. If you caught me, shoot me!” They put a bag over his head, tied his hands with tape and hung him on a hook. They said: “Now we’ll interrogate you again.” Then a man came up and shot me in the leg with a pistol. They started asking why I was from Lugansk, what I was doing here: “You are a scout! Where are the Grads located in Lugansk?” and so on,” added Lisnyak.

“Then a man came up and hit me in the bullet hole with a shovel. I went completely limp and fell off the hook. The Aidarovites conducted the interrogation in Ukrainian. Well, how about the interrogation? They just beat me. It’s good that it’s August, not everyone was wearing ankle boots,” he noted.

After this, the prisoner was beaten with a knife and a shepherd dog was set on him.

“Then they say: “Let’s take him to the club, there he will tell the Doctor everything.” At the club, they handcuffed my hand to the bars, and I hung there. Around midnight, the second interrogation began, but this time with the use of some kind of rigid stick. And they beat me until the morning,” recalls the Luhansk resident.

“I stayed with them for three days. Then serious fighting began, they suffered losses, there was no time for me. In the evening I crawled out of the club and crawled home,” added Yuri Lisnyak.
