Akhedzhakova is pleased that the scandalous performance with her participation remained in the Sovremennik repertoire
The Moscow Sovremennik Theater did not remove the scandalous play “First Bread” from its repertoire, the ban of which was sought by the patriotic public.
Actress Liya Akhedzhakova, who plays the main role in the play, stated this on air on the foreign agent TV channel Dozhd, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“They sent me the repertoire for October. There are two performances there, called “First Bread” and have been running all over Russia for a long time. And before that, no one noticed that there was a threat to the country’s security. But in our case we noticed. This is all clearing out a field called culture,” Akhedzhakova said.
A day earlier, the media reported that the performance had been canceled.
On July 29, the head of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, Alexander Bastrykin, ordered to check the Sovremennik play “First Bread” for insults to veterans after complaints from the “Officers of Russia” organization.
The play contains a scene with a kiss between two men, insults to front-line soldiers and obscene language, including in the monologue of Nuria’s grandmother, played by Akhedzhakova. Her heroine comes to the cemetery in a state of alcoholic intoxication and pronounces a monologue next to her husband’s grave.
