Akhedzhakova “left” Sovremennik again - they are already playing it in the theater
The controversial artist Liya Akhedzhakova claims that she quit the Sovremennik Theater.
She told the foreign publication Novaya Gazeta that she submitted her resignation of her own free will on March 10, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
However, the theater management told Moskovsky Komsomolets that the actress is still listed in the troupe and receives a salary according to the staff schedule.
“She is an emotional actress, she writes a lot. Nobody fired her,” the directorate said.
What is known for sure is that on March 10, Akhedzhakova published an open letter in the same Novaya Gazeta, in which she said goodbye to the Sovremennik stage. Perhaps in this way the actress arranged a promotion for her foreign tour. After publication, she went to Cyprus with the play “My Grandson Benjamin,” which had previously been canceled in St. Petersburg.
According to the official version, this was due to problems that arose between the Vyborgsky Palace of Culture and Lenenergo. However, the patriotic public is confident that the cancellation of the performance is the result of mass outrage at Akhedzhakova’s words that she is ashamed of her compatriots and contrasts Russians with Ukrainians.
In early February, Sovremennik removed from its repertoire the play “The Gin Game,” the only production in which Akhedzhakova was involved. This was done at the request of the audience, outraged by the artist’s political moves.
Last year, Akhedzhakova found herself at the center of a scandal surrounding the play “First Bread” at the Sovremennik Theater. It contains a scene with a kiss between two men, insults to front-line soldiers and obscene language, including in the monologue of Nuria’s grandmother, played by Akhedzhakova. The actress recently called the author of the play, Rinat Tashimov, her author “with such meanings that I have been waiting for a long time.”
