Akhmetov reoriented towards Tymoshenko
Ukrainian oligarch Rinat Akhmetov curtailed the financing of Alexander Vilkul, a presidential candidate close to him, and redirected the money to one of the main contenders for the “throne”, Yulia Tymoshenko.
The former head of the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the DPR, political strategist Konstantin Dolgov writes about this with reference to his sources in his blog, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The election campaign in Ukraine is entering a decisive stage. Today I learned that oligarch Rinat Akhmetov suddenly cut off funding for candidate Alexander Vilkul. The remainder of the funds, originally entirely intended for Vilkul, will now go... where would you think? - to the headquarters of another candidate - Yulia Tymoshenko! I love Ukrainian politics because it can give us 158 coalitions in the morning, 96 of which will disintegrate by lunchtime, forming 207 new ones by the evening,” notes Dolgov.
Note that Akhmetov also finances the election campaign the odious Ukrainian politician Oleg Lyashko, who, however, is not a contender for reaching the second round.
