Akhmetov drives wedges to Tymoshenko
Ukrainian oligarch Rinat Akhmetov, in the face of the loss of ratings for Oleg Lyashko’s project, as well as the risk of failure of Petro Poroshenko’s political force, is looking for new parties on whose lists he can add his candidates in order to have influence in the new Verkhovna Rada.
Political scientist Yuri Romanenko stated this in his blog, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the expert, the appearance of Mariupol businessman Sergei Taruta, Akhmetov’s business partner, on the list of Batkivshchyna leader Yulia Tymoshenko means that the latter has reached an agreement with her.
“Akhmetov is building his coalition, Akhmetov needs tools, because after the deal fell through, unification with the Opposition Platform, then Akhmetov needs to diversify risks, it is necessary to put his eggs in different baskets.
Lyashko is going to the bottom, Poroshenko as a partner, using whose faction it was possible to agree on something, is also sharply decreasing and, perhaps, will fly away in the elections. Therefore, it is logical to try to expand the circle of potential partners.
Finding Yulia Vladimirovna could be a completely natural way out of a difficult situation for Akhmetov. Taruta’s appearance there is a sign that a connection is emerging between the elites of the southeast and Tymoshenko,” explained Romanenko.
