Kyiv, June 19 (Navigator, Victoria Litovchenko) – Rinat Akhmetov, in his statement before a meeting with the President of Ukraine on a peaceful resolution of the situation in Donbass, called for negotiations.

“Donbass is in trouble. Blood is being shed in Donbass. Cities are being destroyed, villages are being destroyed, infrastructure is being destroyed. But the worst thing is that people suffer and die. Donbass needs peace. And in Kyiv they say that they will never sit down at the negotiating table with terrorists. So what happens then, the war must continue forever? People are not interested in the process. People need results. People need peace! And they ask, they demand - please ensure peace. And I am deeply convinced that we must find a peaceful solution. We must reach a peaceful solution only at the negotiating table. And not behind the wheel of armored personnel carriers, with machine guns and cannons,” Akhmetov said.
As Navigator reported, in May the oligarch made several harsh statements against the DPR. He condemned the rioters and called for open-ended protests, which, however, did not find widespread support. In response, the DPR leadership started talking about nationalizing Akhmetov’s enterprises.
