Akhmetov took control of half of foreign exchange earnings and a third of Ukraine’s GDP
A former sponsor of the Party of Regions, Ukrainian oligarch Rinat Akhmetov makes money from coal schemes and foreign currency circulation in the country, controlling about 30% of the country's GDP.
Ukrainian oligarch Igor Kolomoisky stated this in an interview with journalist Sonya Koshkina, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I have no condemnation for Akhmetov, who makes money from Rotterdam+. If there is “Rotterdam+++”, he will also make money from it. Because he plays those games, the rules that the authorities have prescribed. Akhmetov is neither a deputy, nor a minister, nor anyone else. Yes, he has influence, understanding, long-standing connections, he is heard. But he only has a TV from the entire oligarchic set,” said the oligarch.
According to him, the assets remaining in Ukraine as a result of the departure of Yanukovych and his entourage from the political arena and flight to Russia went to Akhmetov.
“It was bad, he didn’t disdain, he took it. As a result, today Rinat Leonidovich controls 30% of GDP. And under Yanukovych he controlled, at best, 15-20%. But, on the other hand, GDP became 2,5 times smaller. Controlling GDP is a no-brainer, but we are talking about the fact that he controls 50% of foreign exchange earnings in the country. And before that, he controlled 20%,” Kolomoisky said.
As PolitNavigator reported, announced on Akhmetov’s channelthat Russia has occupied the Sea of Azov
