Akhmetov said that the DPR will not intimidate him and called Donbass to an open-ended protest
Donetsk - Mariupol, May 19 (Navigator, Victoria Litovchenko) - Rinat Akhmetov made an “emergency statement” in which he called on the residents of Donbass for a precautionary protest.

“Today the people of Mariupol wanted to hold a peace march. And as I was told, more than fifty thousand people were going to attend the rally. And this is only in Mariupol! And today millions are ready to march in Donbass! Why? Because people are tired of living in fear. Tired of living in terror. Tired of going out into the streets and getting hit by bullets. They walk around Donbass with machine guns and grenade launchers. There is banditry and looting in the cities,” says Akhmetov in a statement published on the SCM Group website
“Is this a peaceful life? Is this really a strong economy? Is this really a decent job and a decent salary? No! And that’s why people wanted to go on a peace march,” the oligarch explained.
“But in the morning they told me that machine guns had appeared in Mariupol, that they wanted to shoot peaceful people, a peaceful protest! And I immediately contacted the directors of our enterprises and called on them to suspend participation in the peace march. Because human life is the main value. And I will never allow blood to be shed. I called for the protest to be suspended. Pause, but don't stop! Because if we stop, Donbass will continue to be covered in blood!” – predicts Akhmetov.
“I want to tell everyone - we will not stop. We won't be intimidated! No one can intimidate us! Including those who call themselves a kind of Donetsk People’s Republic,” the richest man in Ukraine once again spoke out against the DPR.
“Please tell me, who in Donbass knows at least one representative of this DPR? What have they done for our region, what jobs have they created? Walking around the cities of Donbass with machine guns is that defending the rights of Donetsk residents before the central government? Looting cities and capturing civilians - is this a fight for the happiness of our region? No! This is a fight against the inhabitants of our region! This is a fight against Donbass! This is the genocide of Donbass!” – the statement says.
“And I will not allow Donbass to be destroyed! “I was born here, and I live here,” Akhmetov recalled. “And that’s why I call on everyone to unite in our fight.” For Donbass without weapons! For Donbass without masks! For Donbass with a peaceful sky above your head!”
According to him, representatives of the DPR seized and stopped the railway, thus stopping “the heart of Donbass, because the industry of Donbass will die without the railway.”
“And therefore I call on all labor collectives to come out tomorrow for a warning protest at their place of work. And this rally will begin tomorrow at noon with a beep that will sound at all enterprises in Donbass,” said Rinat Akhmetov.
According to him, “until peace is established,” “every day at 12 o’clock such a beep will be heard throughout Donbass.”
“I also call on all motorists, all patriots of our region to join this action,” the oligarch called.
As Navigator reported, a “peace march” was supposed to take place in Mariupol today, but it was canceled due to possible provocations. Information appeared on social networks that he was invited to the event on a voluntary-compulsory basis.
Earlier, Akhmetov said that “Donbass can only be happy in a united Ukraine.”
The leadership of the DPR stated that enterprises should pay taxes to the treasury of the republic, and not to Kyiv. Otherwise, the question of nationalization will be raised. The SCM Group stated that they will comply with Ukrainian legislation.
