Fragments of the Opposition Bloc proclaimed a new ideology - “dill”
Kiev political scientist Andrei Ermolaev voiced a keynote speech about “Russian-speaking Ukrainian patriotism,” which the expert quite seriously called “dill.” It is interesting that, based on Ermolaev’s words, the number of “Ukrainian Russian-speaking patriots” includes, in particular, former ATO militants from the south-eastern regions.
“I want to dwell on the phenomenon that back in 2015 I defined as “dill.” Not to be confused with the "Dill" batch.
Dill, in my opinion, is a kind of behavioral mentality complex that manifested itself as post-Soviet Ukraine in the context of the outbreak of separatist movements in the southeast and in the conditions when the war began in the Donbass. A new kind of patriotism has emerged. He is Russian-speaking, he is more tolerant, he is focused on protecting Ukraine.
The main flow of volunteer battalions in the first years of the war was predominantly from the southern and eastern regions. Reinforcements from the western regions were smaller, and from there a flow of flight from the war began.
Dill today, in our opinion, is a new social and behavioral phenomenon that reflects the interests of Ukrainians who are ready to live, protect and develop Ukraine, but not according to the prevailing stereotypes of Galicia,” Ermolaev said.
