“Without trying to impose my opinion on anyone,” the politician notes in his address, the text of which is available to Navigator, “I still want to share with the Crimeans my vision of an important historical period in the lives of all of us. I believe that as the first and only popularly elected President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, I am simply obliged to do this. Neither before the referendum, nor immediately after - when going through all the formal procedures for the reunification of the peninsula with Russia - I did not want and could not talk about it, so as not to split the Crimean community. At that time, it was very important to demonstrate the unity of the authorities and the people of the republic in order to finally gain the long-awaited freedom and return the lost Motherland. Now I can safely express my alternative version of the events of the Crimean Spring.”

During these events, Meshkov is convinced, the current top officials of the republic were not guided by patriotic motives.

“They were driven primarily by the desire to remain in power at any cost, while receiving solid preferences for their own business. After all, the current acting The Head of the Republic of Crimea, Sergei Aksyonov, and the Chairman of the State Council, Vladimir Konstantinov, are first of all businessmen, and large businessmen at that, whose main goal has always been and is to obtain maximum profit. At any cost! And everything else for them is not even in second place, but in one hundred and second place,” the politician is convinced.

The Russian Unity party, he declares, “has always acted from a pro-Ukrainian statist position.”

“And this is not surprising, because it was created exclusively as a business project to promote the commercial interests of a certain narrow group of people. Thus, on July 9 last year, the leader of this party, Sergei Aksyonov, called the anniversary picket of the Popular Front “Sevastopol-Crimea-Russia” held in the capital of the republic, timed to coincide with the 20th anniversary of the adoption of the resolution of the Supreme Council of the Russian Federation of July 9, 1993 on the Russian federal status of the hero city of Sevastopol. “You know, I think that such actions are not supported by the majority of the population, and no one pays attention to them. A certain small number of people go there who are still trying to dream about what will be like in the Soviet Union - it seems to them that some changes are possible in terms of administrative boundaries and something else of the same kind. I believe that the administrative boundaries cannot change, and will not change,” said Aksyonov, who a year ago was not particularly against the Ukrainian occupation of the peninsula. And neither he himself nor his entourage even thought about returning Crimea to Russia,” Meshkov assures.

Thus, in March 2011, he recalls, “who lobbied for the business interests of Russian Unity (of course, not for free), the former Consul General of the Russian Federation in Simferopol Vladimir Andreev supported the conviction by the Bandera justice of activists of the NF “Sevastopol-Crimea-Russia” for calls for the reunification of the peninsula with Russia. I am sure that he did this on the direct orders of his masters - the leaders of this political structure. In July of the same year, Andreev also supported the expulsion of your humble servant, Yuri Meshkov, from the peninsula by the SBU dogs. And he also did this on the direct orders of his sponsors from the leadership of Russian Unity.

According to Yuri Meshkov, the speaker of the Crimean parliament, Vladimir Konstantinov, had never before been seen as having pro-Russian views.

“Rather, on the contrary, he publicly condemned the fighters for Russian Crimea. I remember the moment when representatives of the “Sevastopol-Crimea-Russia” movement won a trial in the Supreme Administrative Court in Kyiv for the right to judicially abolish the 1998 Constitution of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea. At the trial to abolish the Ukrainian constitution of Crimea, Konstantinov, as the highest official of the autonomy, refused to recognize the “Sevastopol-Crimea-Russia” claim and did everything to preserve the Ukrainian status of the peninsula, enshrined in the 1998 Constitution of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea. According to Article 1 of this document, “The Autonomous Republic of Crimea is an integral part of Ukraine.” In an interview with the Crimean Izvestia newspaper on January 19, 2012, Konstantinov stated verbatim the following: “A group of political outsiders from a public organization not registered in accordance with the law, led by a certain “figure”, by the way, recently convicted of criminal encroachment on the territorial integrity of Ukraine, pulled out naphthalene his lawsuit to abolish the Crimean Constitution. In their demands, these outcasts, who do not represent anyone in the republic, have gone so far as to insist not only on the abolition of the 1998 Constitution of the ARC, but also on the beginning of negotiations on the transfer of Crimea to the jurisdiction of the Russian Federation... There is no doubt that the absurd demands of political midgets will receive legal justice in court assessment,” the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan quotes a representative of the “winning team.”

Konstantinov, he is sure, like Aksyonov, “came into politics for only one single purpose - to promote his business.”

“The difference is that Aksyonov created his own business project - “Russian Unity”, and Konstantinov occupied a different niche - he directly went into the service of the Donetsk-Makeevsky and for this he sought to get the opportunity to support firms and enterprises under his control,” says Yuri Meshkov.
