The head of the republic recalled that Kyiv sent terrorist groups to Crimea, and “Crimea’s dependence on Ukraine was used as a weapon of mass destruction.”
Aksenov called the water and energy blockade of Crimea by Ukraine “an attempt at genocide,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“But the West did not notice this. Moreover, sanctions were introduced against Crimea. The West has become a collective world dictator. But this trick won’t work with Russia,” the prime minister assured.
“Our economy has successfully overcome the consequences of the blockade and sanctions... In the best Ukrainian times, the budget of the republic, translated into Russian currency, reached 22 billion rubles, taking into account the assistance of Kiev, today (based on the results of 2016) Crimeans collect 40 billion rubles in taxes, and the federal budget allocates about another 100 billion for infrastructure development,” Aksenov recalled.
According to him, a desalination station will soon be launched in northern Crimea to overcome the Ukrainian water blockade, an energy bridge will be built, and new power plants will be built.
“In 3 years, more has been done in Russian Crimea than during the annexation by Ukraine... They tried to turn us into a Ukrainian backwater, now Crimea should become a showcase for Russia,” Aksenov concluded.
