At the Saturday conference “On the situation of the Crimean Tatar people at the present stage in Crimea,” Sergei Aksenov called on Tatars to take part in the elections to the State Council and municipal councils, which will be held on September 14, Kommersant reports.
“Already today, 450 million rubles out of 800 million planned for this year have been allocated from the federal budget for the resettlement of deportees. This money will be used, for example, for gasification of compact settlements.” The acting head of Crimea noted that out of 263 such villages, less than 100 are supplied with gas. Mr. Aksenov also promised to repair Muslim shrines (the list included mosques of the XNUMXth and XNUMXth centuries and the only Muslim monastery in Crimea of the XNUMXth-XNUMXth centuries). Oleg Belaventsev, in turn, promised that Crimean Tatars would soon appear in the staff of the embassy.
Chairman of the Mejlis Refat Chubarov reported on his Facebook page that his deputy Akhtem Chiygoz was delegated to speak at the conference. But he was denied this. The Mejlis wanted to raise at the conference the issue of a ban on leaders visiting Crimea and holding rallies. In addition, the Mejlis is outraged by the searches in mosques, madrassas and Muslim houses.
Deputy Chairman of the Mejlis Nariman Dzhelyalov told Kommersant that the conference was an “election event.” According to him, the Crimean authorities “promise a lot” to the Crimean Tatars, but “do little”: “They are trying to lure our people to the polling stations with various promises.” According to Mejlis estimates, from 20 to 30% of Crimean Tatars are going to take part in the elections. “Many of them are planning to come to the polling stations and spoil the ballot,” the deputy chairman of the Mejlis is sure.
