Aksenov failed the work on the free economic zone in Crimea, - political scientist
The Crimean government has failed to cope with the task of developing a free economic zone, political scientist Rostislav Turovsky said in an interview with the Vedomosti newspaper, commenting on corruption scandals on the peninsula. The analyst predicts strengthening control over the peninsula with the help of non-local personnel supplied by Moscow.

“This mechanism has not really worked, and it is not clear whether it will work, because there are few people willing, and regional authorities are working for their own interests,” the expert said.
In his opinion, the anti-corruption campaign in Crimea could have far-reaching consequences.
“All this will likely lead to a more rigid order of governance of the territory, since the strategy of an alliance with established local elites, who demonstrated loyalty, and in exchange received too much control over resources and did not take advantage of this control in the interests of the population, did not work,” says Turovsky.
“In any case, external control will be strengthened,” the analyst is confident.
