The official stated this in an interview with Kommersant.

“I can say that today self-defense is more effective than government agencies, without any doubt (! - “Navigator”). In all matters of preventing various types of offenses, only self-defense works everywhere,” Aksenov boasted.

“Everything happens, sometimes we turn a blind eye to these things. The main thing is that it is not for selfish purposes, and without harming the health and life of citizens,” he responded to a remark about citizens’ complaints about self-defense.

According to the Crimean prime minister, beatings of citizens are “isolated cases”:

“When there are more than five thousand people in self-defense, and there are only one or two such episodes in six months...” Sergei Aksenov defends his brainchild.
