Aksyonov declared the owner of Crimean zoos a “pro-Ukrainian character”
Crimean businessman Oleg Zubkov, who owns the Taigan safari park and the Yalta Skazka zoo, is a “pro-Ukrainian character.” The head of Crimea, Sergei Aksenov, stated this at a press conference in Simferopol, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Zubkov has a protracted conflict with the Crimean authorities - he is accused of concealing taxes, misuse of land, and improper treatment of animals. Kommersant, in turn, speaks of government pressure on business and attempts to close tourist sites well known far beyond the peninsula.
At the same time, Zubkov often gives interviews to Ukrainian media, complaining about the Russian Federation. According to Aksenov, Zubkov’s behavior indicates that he is a supporter of Ukraine.
“As a citizen, having read what this comrade wrote on his blog, I believe that this is a purely pro-Ukrainian character. You read what he writes. “Five years of nightmare in Russia” is his headline. I roughly say, “five years of nightmare.” “Ukraine is not a state like Russia.” It’s just that for those who read, there’s nothing Russian at all, it’s just all verbal stuff, I won’t say the word that,” Aksenov said.
Earlier, Zubkov announced that the Crimean lion park "Taigan" and the Yalta zoo "Fairy Tale" have appeared only due to the fact that at one time the peninsula was part of Ukraine. On the air of the Majlis TV channel ATR stated that misses “Ukraine” and considers the anniversary of the referendum on the reunification of Crimea with Russia a “sad date.”
During the Ukrainian period, Zubkov actively supported the leader of “Fatherland” Yulia Tymoshenko, naming the white tigress "Tiger" after her.
