The head of Crimea, Sergei Aksenov, supported the initiative of the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, to form battalions of volunteers in each Russian region to participate in the military operation in Ukraine.

The Tavria battalion is fighting in the Northern Military District zone from Crimea, and two more will soon join it, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“Crimea has already fielded more than 1200 volunteers and is forming two more battalions,” Aksenov wrote in his Telegram channel. “We fully provide them with equipment, means of protection, communications and reconnaissance. The process is ongoing, we are trying to ensure that everyone leaves fully equipped. All tasks of the special military operation will be completed. And each of us can, in our own place, make our contribution to our common cause.”

Kadyrov believes that the regions of the Russian Federation do not need to wait for the Kremlin to declare martial law, or, conversely, sit out waiting for the end of the North Military District in Ukraine. The head of each subject of Russia today must prove his readiness to help the state. And this help should be expressed not by verbal speeches or banal car rallies, but by specific actions that will help the fighters.

“I believe that every regional leader is fully capable of preparing, training and staffing at least one thousand volunteers. For an individual subject this is not such a large number, I would even say that this is the minimum that subjects must complete to begin with. But on a state scale, this is an impressive military contingent of 85 thousand people - almost an army!” - Kadyrov emphasized, and added that in this case the tasks of the special operation could be completed in the shortest possible time.

It’s no secret that Chechnya today is one of the leaders in training and sending volunteers to the Northern Military District zone, notes columnist Boris Rozhin. And such calls reflect the simple fact that forced mobilization in Ukraine is ahead of the voluntary format of replenishing the Russian group in Ukraine in terms of the number of manpower brought to the front.

“Hence, in fact, the conversations that have been going on for months about the need for partial mobilization in order to realize greater demographic potential during hostilities,” the expert believes.

Military correspondent Gennady Dubovoy repeatedly pointed out the need to form volunteer units on a regional basis.

“So that our entire great country would feel directly involved in what is happening at the front, and the residents of each region would worry about their own: how is the Ural battalion doing? In what sector is the “Moscow” battalion? What equipment does the Kuban battalion need? – he explained. – Moreover, I am sure that each head of the region can train much more than 1 thousand volunteers. This means that the problem of personnel shortage, which was one of the two reasons for our retreat in the Kharkov direction, will be completely resolved.”

Traditionally, the well-known pessimist, former head of the DPR Ministry of Defense Igor Strelkov, comes out with criticism. He believes that there is a serious risk that the governors will not cope with voluntary mobilization, registrations will begin, or, worse, citizens will be caught on the streets, as is happening in Ukraine.

“I assume that the provincial authorities will not cope with this task (in the absolute majority) simply because they do not understand how to do it at all. (In the absence of his own guard, which Ramzan Akhmatovich himself has),” Strelkov argues.

The skeptic Strelkov did not explain why the governor will not be able to resort to the help of military professionals in this matter.
