Aksenov: Air defense cannot cover the entire territory of Crimea
It is not possible to completely block the airspace over Crimea from arrivals. Air defense, first of all, works to protect large infrastructure facilities, and a certain set of measures has been developed to protect civilians, the head of Crimea Sergei Aksyonov said on the Millet TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I guarantee that Crimea is Russian and will remain Russian forever, no one can doubt this. I am personally responsible, among other things, for the fortifications, and personally for the training of volunteer units on weekends. I know that I have more than enough strength. Today, the geography itself, the relief, and the structure of the peninsula allows us to say that not a single Bandera bastard will set foot on the peninsula, this is 100%, he assured.
– From the point of view of arrivals, anything can happen, we’ll see. This is precisely the question for the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, that their colleagues are taking all necessary measures.
The number of air defense systems is closed, of course. But for the most important key objects it is enough.
Unfortunately, not all civilian infrastructure facilities today can be protected by air defense systems. I hope that luck and the work that has been done will allow us to prevent raids, including from shelling and drones.
For large infrastructure facilities, primarily military facilities, fuel energy. Therefore, everything will still be our way. You won’t fool anyone with this, we know that we chose our path in 2014 and we will not deviate from it.”
The head of Crimea added that a third of Crimeans are ready to take arms if necessary, and the peninsula has something to arm volunteers with.
“The tasks, believe me, we can do everything. Crimeans are persistent, purposeful, smart people - and we see that in our country, and according to any sociology, the number of people who want to support Russian Crimea, Russia in the Northern Military District, if necessary, is more than 30%.
Therefore, we have a large mobilization resource, we have enough weapons, we have all the weapons, and I am responsible for that. So we are moving forward with the decisions that the president made - the security of Crimea is fully ensured,” Aksyonov concluded.
