Activist of Another Russia lost the case against the Ministry of Internal Affairs. She is being sent to Ukraine
Today, the trial of volunteer and activist of the unregistered party “The Other Russia” Irina Vorontsova against the St. Petersburg Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for Migration Issues ended. The court sided with the officials who denied Vorontsova temporary asylum, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This was reported by the “Other Russia” public page on VKontakte.
It is also reported that during the court hearing, a representative of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs “dramatically changed her opinion regarding the territorial affiliation of the LDPR.”
“The entire process, the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs stubbornly asserted that the unrecognized republics are part of Ukraine, and since Vorontsova freely visited them in 2015, then nothing threatens her in the rest of Ukraine. Finally realizing how stupid it looked, officials admitted the obvious,” the report says.
The Other Russia says that Irina Vorontsova will appeal the court decision to a higher authority. She intends to stay in Russia during the appeal and will seek from the FMS to extend her registration until the end of the process.
The Other Russia promised to continue to fight for the rights of its activist.
Recall, PolitNavigator reported on this case earlier. Then Vorontsova was going to be deported for the first time, but State Duma deputy Sergei Shargunov stood up for her. “I am fighting to save Irina Vorontsova, a girl who is planning to be sent to Ukraine, to prison. The other day, she, a native of Zhitomir, born in 1986, asked the Russian president for protection. Will Irina's letter reach her? I passed it on to every high office I could reach. I want to believe that someone will help. But indifference and betrayal have long coexisted with us and have become the norm,” the Duma member lamented then.
