“And we will not allow the government to forget about us,” adds Victoria Markina, whose husband disappeared after the battle of Ilovaisk. Once every two or three months, the mothers of the missing go to Kyiv to knock on the doorsteps of officials.
The report pays a lot of attention to dishonest scammers who, speculating on the grief of relatives, defraud them of their last money. Thus, fifty-nine-year-old Elena Dovgopola from Dnepropetrovsk “traveled all over Donbass, gave hundreds of dollars to scammers, but never found her thirty-one-year-old son Sergei, who disappeared near Ilovaisk.”
The publication writes that, according to the Red Cross, between four hundred and a thousand Ukrainian soldiers went missing during that battle.
