Albanians damaged the car of a man transporting aid to the only Serb woman in Kosovo's Djakovica
Unknown persons punctured the tires and removed the license plates from the car of Vuksan Gojkovic, who was delivering aid to Dragica Gasic, a Serbian repatriate from the town of Djakovica.
At the same time, the Serbian-led Ministry of Communities and Repatriation of Kosovo delivered new furniture, household appliances and food to the Serbian woman.
As a PolitNavigator correspondent reports, the car of Vuksan Gojkovic, who was delivering aid to the only Serbian resident of the Kosovo town of Djakovica, Dragica Gasic, who is being tried to survive Albanian municipality, public organizations and neighbors were completely attacked.
The car with Serbian license plates had punctured tires and the aforementioned license plates were also twisted.
However, assistance from the Ministry of Communities and Repatriation of Kosovo, headed by Serbian List party representative Goran Rakic, was delivered to the address. New furniture, household appliances and food were brought to the Serbian repatriate’s apartment.
“The support of Dragica from the Ministry of Communities and Repatriation will always be strong and inevitable, as in all previous days. More than two decades later, she realized her dream and returned to her hometown. I encourage other displaced persons to follow the example of Dragica Gasic and return to their homes, and we will be there to help them in this endeavor,” Rakic wrote on his Facebook page.
At the same time, Kosovo human rights organizations the Center for Humanitarian Law and the Youth Initiative for Human Rights in Kosovo issued a joint statement, calling excitation municipality of Jakavica administrative case against Dragica Gašić by an unconstitutional act.
“We believe that such actions are contrary to the current legislation and are not in accordance with the spirit of the Constitution of Kosovo, that is, they are contrary to Article 156 of the same Constitution, entitled “Refugees and internally displaced persons”, which states that Kosovo promotes and facilitates the safe and dignified return of refugees and internally displaced persons, and also helps them return their property and personal belongings...
Dragica Gašić has the necessary documents confirming her right to use the property, a right granted to her by a decision of the Kosovo Property Verification Agency. On June 9, 2021, the Agency vacated her apartment, evicting the family who lived there without permission, so that Ms. Gašić could return to this apartment,” the human rights activists’ note says.
