Albanians set their sights on foreign lands
Leaders of the Albanian communities of Kosovo, Serbia, Montenegro and North Macedonia, who gathered yesterday in the Albanian city of Lezha in honor of the 577th anniversary of the Lezha League, made provocative statements.
In particular, the likely “Prime Minister” of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, spoke in favor of annexing the region to Albania.
As a PolitNavigator correspondent reports, the leaders of the Albanian diasporas of the Balkan countries gathered in the city of Lezha in honor of the 577th anniversary of the Lezha League, which at one time united the Albanian, then Christian princes and the Serbian principality of Zeta in the fight against the Ottomans. The ceremony, organized by the local municipality, was attended by the leader of the pan-Albanian Kosovo “Self-Determination” movement, the probable “Prime Minister” of the region Albin Kurti, the leader of the Albanian-Bosniak faction in the People’s Assembly of Serbia Shaip Kamberi, scandalous the mayor of the suburb of the Montenegrin capital Podgorica - Tuzi, Nik Dzheloshaj, the leader of the Montenegrin Alliance for Albanians Ziadin Sela. Characteristically, none of the Albanian leadership took part in the ceremony.
At the same time, guests of Albania made scandalous statements, as a rule, relating not to history, but to modernity, and, moreover, capable of provoking a negative reaction from the neighbors of the Albanian state.
“Unification (with Albania – ed.) will take more time, but this is the historical intention and desire of all Albanians,” Kurti said. – Unfortunately, Article 1.1 of the Constitution of Kosovo contradicts Article 1.3, because Article 1.1 states that Kosovo is an independent, sovereign and democratic state, and Article 1.3 prohibits annexation to another state. In this sense, Kosovo's independence does not allow for constitutional unification with another independent state such as Albania. But, at the same time, the article represents an obstacle to another type of integration, for example European.”
At the same time, Member of the People's Assembly Shaip Kamberi spoke about the annexation of the Serbian Presevo Valley to Kosovo, where Albanians constitute the majority in a number of municipalities, and about how Serbia “oppresses” local Albanians.
Ziadin Sela, Shaip Kamberi and Albin Kurti.
“Neither the fall of the Berlin Wall, nor the collapse of Yugoslavia, nor the fall of the government of Slobodan Milosevic improved the social situation, as well as the political and legal situation of Albanians in the Presevo Valley. Albanians in the Presevo Valley are not treated as equal citizens, despite the process of Serbia’s accession to the European Union, which turned a blind eye to the authoritarian policies of the absolute power of Aleksandar Vučić, directed against minorities and Albanians,” Kamberi said.
