Albania declared itself and Ukraine members of the same family
Albania will expand its diplomatic presence in Ukraine by opening an embassy in Kyiv after 30 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
This was announced by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Albania Olta Xhachka, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Albania and Ukraine belong to the family of free democratic nations, the future of both lies in the Euro-Atlantic family. On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations, I am pleased to announce that Albania will expand its diplomatic presence in Kyiv by opening an embassy in Ukraine,” Xhačka wrote on Twitter.
Until now, the duties of the diplomatic representative of Albania in Ukraine were performed concurrently by the Albanian ambassador to Poland. Obviously, they decided to increase the level of relations after Vladimir Zelensky’s request during the visit of Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama to Kyiv on June 15, 2022. By the way, now Tirana is represented in Warsaw only by the charge d'affaires.
It should be noted that in 2021, Albania was named the largest producer of soft drugs in the Western Balkans, and the most important center for the processing and transportation of hard drugs from East to West.
