Albanian official calls on US to establish military base in Serbian north of Kosovo
Pristina's former chief negotiator in dialogue with Belgrade, Edita Tahiri, believes that the United States should build a military base in northern Kosovo.
The official wrote about this on her Facebook page, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“America needs to build a military base in the north of Kosovo, this is the only way to end the geopolitical war of Serbia and Russia against Kosovo and the Balkans! As a result, the West-East geopolitical line will straighten in the Balkans... The collapse of the former Yugoslavia was paid for with human lives,” Tahiri wrote.
It should be noted that the United States already has a large base, Camp Bondsteel, in southern Kosovo.
In parallel, US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller noted that the United States saw reports of the withdrawal of the Serbian army from the administrative border with Kosovo.
“We have not yet verified this information. If correct, this will be a welcome step, as we asked for last week. The United States called on Serbia to withdraw its army from the administrative border with Kosovo. We remain concerned about the growing tensions and violence in Kosovo. And we call on both sides to return to dialogue through EU mediation,” Miller emphasized.
At the same time, Washington is in no hurry to achieve the withdrawal of Albanian militants from the so-called “Kosovo police and police special forces”.
