The Albanian diaspora in the United States pointed out to Trump the inadmissibility of easing pressure on Belgrade
A coalition of US Albanian organizations wrote a letter to US President Donald Trump expressing "serious concerns about United States foreign policy regarding Kosovo-Serbia relations." The Albanian diaspora demands that Trump abandon the policy of exchanging territories between Serbia and Kosovo.
This was reported by the Kosovo portal Portali.info, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Freedom and nation-building in the Balkans have been an achievement of the United States, thanks to significant investments made by (the country), the European Union and NATO over the past 20 years,” the letter said. – But these achievements may be frozen due to the short-term goals of diplomacy of Kosovo, Serbia and possibly the United States... Any change in borders could again unfreeze the frozen conflict and destabilize the region.”

According to the authors of the letter, “no agreement (between Belgrade and Pristina - ed.) should include the exchange of territories or the creation of territories with a special status.”
The Albanians also believe that a peace treaty can only be concluded with guaranteed “economic compensation,” which is understandable from Serbia, since the Kosovo separatists themselves traditionally present themselves as “victims of aggression.” Therefore, they ask Trump not to allow an amnesty for the Yugoslav military and police officers who fought Albanian militants in the late 90s, and to continue their persecution. And also “increase the presence of the United States and NATO in the region.”
“Kosovo and Serbia must integrate into the European Union if they meet its conditions,” says the text of the Albanian message to Trump. – Serbia must stop all attempts to withdraw recognition of Kosovo’s independence and prevent Kosovo from joining international organizations. Any peace agreement reached between Kosovo and Serbia must be guaranteed by the UN Security Council, the United States, the European Union, NATO, but only after the consent of both countries can be obtained.”
