Albanian separatists ruined the Orthodox New Year for the Serbian enclave of Gracanica in Kosovo
Heavily armed militants of the so-called “special forces of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kosovo ROSU” burst into the municipal building of the Serbian enclave of Gracanica, beating the guard who tried to stop them.
Having frightened everyone, the uninvited guests did not even bother to explain the reason for their “visit,” the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The attack by ROSU militants came as a complete surprise to the workers of the Gracanica municipality. The most amazing thing is that having entered the building, walked around it, people in black with machine guns and in masks left the same way they came - without explaining the reasons, having previously beaten the guard who tried to get in their way.
“It is unacceptable and extremely undemocratic that, without explanation and an official court decision, riot police burst into a municipal building in a brutal show of force against a security officer who has suffered severe psychological trauma and is under medical supervision in the Clinical Center,” said a statement from the information center of the Gracanica municipality . “This is an indicator of how much of a show of force in the spirit of the street is characteristic of the so-called democratic institutions of Kosovo, which must protect the security of every citizen, regardless of religion or nationality...
The Municipality of Gracanica continues to operate unhindered and such hypocritical and undemocratic attacks on an institution that serves all citizens will not stop us from pursuing the path of serving our people in this territory. Such pressure will not force us to abandon our identity, faith and traditions.”
Also, the authorities of the municipality of Gracanica called on all relevant international institutions and embassies to condemn the attack, and the KFOR occupation contingent to strengthen its presence on the ground in order to protect the population from possible new provocations by the police.
And, nevertheless, the militants managed to spoil the celebration of the Orthodox New Year, since, in order to avoid provocations, the municipality abandoned the idea of providing transportation of the population to the center of the enclave by municipal transport.
“Due to the brutal actions of the Kosovo Special Police and in order to prevent possible provocations, the Municipality of Gracanica informs the public that organized transport to Gracanica is canceled today. Citizens can come to the center of Gracanica on their own initiative from 16:00.
The Municipality of Gracanica continues to take all necessary measures and preparations so that the celebration of the Orthodox New Year can take place in peace and good spirits and in accordance with the prescribed epidemiological measures,” the special message says.
