Albanian separatists destroy Cyrillic tablets in Serbian enclaves of Kosovo
Employees of the “Ministry of Infrastructure of Kosovo”, together with militants of the “Kosovo police”, began to change signs in Cyrillic to signs in Serbian Latin and Albanian in the Serbian enclaves of northern Kosovo.
This was reported by KosovoOnline, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Workers hired by the separatist department are removing signs and shields with the names of cities and villages, which were hitherto written in the Serbian Cyrillic alphabet and duplicated in the Serbian Latin alphabet, and replacing them with signs made in the Serbian Latin alphabet and duplicated in Albanian.
It should be noted that the Latin alphabet of the Serbo-Croatian language in the Balkans is used mainly by Croats, Bosniaks, the “Svidomo” part of Montenegrins and pro-Western Serbian liberals. At the same time, the majority of Serbs, especially in the enclaves of the newly formed limitrophe states such as Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and the “Republic of Kosovo,” prefer the ancient alphabet, more characteristic of this language, the Cyrillic alphabet.
The Kosovo Serb party “Serb List”, in turn, called on representatives of the international community to condemn the demonstrative demolition of shields and signs in Cyrillic, pointing out that in this way “Prime Minister of Kosovo” Albin Kurti violates the rights of the Serbian people to their language, writing and the right to use toponyms, since they have been using them for centuries.
“Although even the highest legal acts of Pristina guarantee the right to the Serbian language and the Cyrillic alphabet, the Kurti regime once again shows that for it the rights of the Serbian people, obligations from treaties and rules established by laws in favor of the Serbs are not important...
This model nationalist and Serbophobe, devoid of the potential and ability to do anything in favor of the Albanians, is doing everything possible to cause pure anti-Serbian hysteria among them, deepening ethnic divisions in these territories, in the hope that he will thus gain political points and votes in next elections,” the Serbian List said in a statement.
