Albanian separatists postpone attempt to gain Kosovo membership in Interpol
Albanian separatists who seized power in Kosovo abandoned their attempt to gain membership in Interpol this year. This was stated by the Deputy “Minister of Foreign Affairs” of the outgoing “government” of the Provisional Institutions in Pristina Anton Berisha.
“We should not rush this process, given certain circumstances,” Berisha said, as quoted by Kurir.
The regime representative explained that the situation is complicated by the need to hold early elections in Kosovo due to the resignation of “Prime Minister” Ramush Haradinaj. In connection with the election campaign, the dialogue between Pristina and the European Union is stalled.
Let us remind you that the next meeting of the Interpol General Assembly will be held in Chile next month. Kosovars have applied for membership in an international police organization for the fourth time, despite protests from Serbia.
The head of the Serbian Ministry of Internal Affairs, Nebojsa Stefanovic, emphasized that admitting illegally seized Kosovo, where war criminals are in power, to Interpol would be a violation of the charter of the international organization.
In addition, former militants of the terrorist organization KLA (Kosovo Liberation Army) would certainly use membership in Interpol to take revenge on the Serbian population, primarily by members of the Serbian police and army who defended the people of the southern Serbian region.
“We must do everything possible in this fight, literally until the last second,” Stefanovic announced opposition to the Albanian plans.
As PolitNavigator reported, Pristina accused Russia of helping Serbia withdraw recognition of Kosovo from a number of African countries.
Currently, the list of countries that have recognized Kosovo's independence is has dropped to a critical point.
Let us remind you that if the number of countries recognizing Kosovo’s independence decreases to 96, the proclaimed entity will not be able to join any international organization.
