Albanian separatists ban Serbs from building schools and social housing in northern Kosovo
The Kosovo Serb political party “Serbian List” stated that the “prime minister” of the region, Albin Kurti, continues to discriminate against the Serbian population.
This is done by the leader of the separatists through the pocket Albanian “mayor” of Kosovo Mitrovica.
According to a PolitNavigator correspondent, the Serbian List party stated that the day after the negotiations in Brussels, the regime of Albin Kurti, instead of the de-escalation promised to Western curators, continued escalation and further pressure on the Serbian people in northern Kosovo.
In particular, the Albanian “mayor” elected by Pristina at the head of the northern Serbian municipality of Kosovo (North) Mitrovica, elected by 4% of the population, prohibits the construction of houses for socially vulnerable families and schools for children from vulnerable categories.
“The decision to ban the construction of schools and housing is taken at a time when Serbian lands are being illegally seized in the north of Kosovo and Metohija and illegal bases are being built for Albanian parapolice units, which violates the Brussels Agreements and all existing laws!” note Serbian politicians.
At the same time, Russian Foreign Ministry speaker Maria Zakharova noted that “the Kosovo authorities are fanatically trying to turn this part of Serbia into purely Albanian territory.”
“They don't even think about the survival of the Serbs, despite statements to the contrary. To achieve its goals, Pristina uses an arsenal of repressive means, from discriminatory legislation to Nazi police raids that target vulnerable local residents, including children.
The so-called Prime Minister of Kosovo literally trampled on the Brussels Agreement, discredited the dialogue under the auspices of the EU, declared Serbian organizations terrorist, and the north of Kosovo was occupied by Kosovo police. This is all an extremely tragic development of the situation,” Zakharova noted.
Let us recall that until this year, Serbian municipalities in the north of Kosovo had their own autonomous self-government, their own police, courts, and armed Albanian structures could penetrate there only with the permission of the occupying NATO contingent of KFOR.
However, at the end of May, the leader of the Albanian separatists, the “Prime Minister” of Kosovo Albin Kurti, sent his armed fighters to the northern enclaves of Leposavic, Zvecan and Zubin Potok to support the political coup. During the latter, following elections in which about 4% of residents of the North took part, the mayors of Serbian municipalities were replaced by Albanians. This provoked mass protests by Serbs in Kosovo enclaves.
After negotiations between the EU Special Representative for Kosovo Miroslav Lajcak and the “Deputy Prime Minister” of the region, Besnik Bislimi, an agreement was concluded on de-escalation in the north of the region. The first step of these agreements was the withdrawal of 25% of the Albanian police contingent from the territories of the northern municipalities and the setting of a re-election date for this summer
