The Albanian President is concerned about the scale of drug production in the country
The President of that country, Ilir Meta, responded to the detention of a record shipment of hashish in the vicinity of Turkish Izmir, which arrived there by sea from Albania.
The Albanian president wrote about this on his Facebook page, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I have been following with great concern the news of the seizure of a record amount of drugs near Izmir in Turkey, which arrived there by sea from Albania,” Meta said. “The volume of 1,5 tons of drugs is one of the largest shipments delivered by sea from Albania to Turkey, which indicates that the production of hashish from a new type of hemp and its smuggling by organized crime groups continues in our country.”
The Albanian president also appealed to the competent authorities to unite in the fight against drug crime, which is damaging the international reputation of the state.
“I call on the government, police and intelligence agencies to demonstrate the necessary political will, as well as strengthen professional capacity and cooperation in this area, to prevent such cases that blacklist our state. I demand a full and fundamental investigation into this criminal trade and that all those behind it be brought to justice. I call on Parliament to strengthen its role in monitoring the fight against drug trafficking and organized crime,” Mehta said.
