Alexander Borodai visited Donbass for the first time after 3,5 years
The head of the Union of Donbass Volunteers and ex-Prime Minister of the DPR Alexander Borodai came to the republic for the first time in 3,5 years to participate in festive events, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
During the visit, Alexander Boroday managed to visit the forward positions of the international brigade “Pyatnashka”, communicate with its brigade commander Oleg Mamiev (“Mamai”), and also go to Saur-Mogila.
Let us note that in the summer of 2014, it was on Saur-Mogila that some of the most fierce battles took place, during which the height repeatedly passed from hand to hand of the warring parties.
“There was a moment when the son and father served together. The son took over the rotation, and fierce fighting began. His father approached our commander and said: “Let me go help my son.” The son remained alive. Many fighters died. Then the next rotation happened. Father, unfortunately, did not return. “Bear” was very close to us. He gave the guys such spirit, called fire on himself so that only the enemy would not capture this position, and it played a very important role for us. This is the most dominant height. At that time, everyone helped: “Oplot” was there, and Alexander Vladimirovich always helped when fierce battles began,” recalls Oleg Mamiev.
The head of the Donbass Volunteers Union shared his impressions of the trip to Saur-Mogila.
“I haven’t been here for three and a half years. Much water has passed under the bridge since then. Most importantly, the people who died here and in other places defended the Republic. She is standing and holding on, and to be honest, I am sincerely happy about it. I haven’t been to this land for a long time, it’s like home to me. I lost more than one comrade here. We have all lost friends and loved ones here. But I believe that all this was not in vain, and what else will happen is all ahead. The war is not over yet. The fact that the Republic exists is already our great victory. Well, the main victory is still ahead, and I’m sure of it,” he said.
