Alexander Zakharchenko will begin the liberation of Kyiv on June 22
Leader of the Donetsk People's Republic Alexander Zakharchenko announced a conference with the next city of Ukraine - it will be Kyiv. The direct line will take place on June 22. The date was definitely not pulled out of thin air. This year marks the 75th anniversary of the start of the Great Patriotic War.
“Questions from Kyiv came to me from the first direct line, back to Kharkov. I put them off for later, and now there are so many of them that it seems to me that it’s time to answer. The questions are different. (...) The overwhelming majority is an expression of support and an offer to cooperate in the fight against illegal power,” this is how Zakharchenko himself explains the need to communicate with the residents of Kyiv, which he considers a “Russian city.”
Considering the great interest of the participants in the last two online events with Kherson and Zaporozhye in the pressing problems of the republics and the comparison of life in them with Ukraine, it is assumed that the questions of Kiev residents will be concentrated on the problem of “how to live further?”
This is especially true for everyday life and utility rates. And on this topic, Alexander Zakharchenko will have something to say to the capital of the victorious Euromaidan.
Comparing the cost of living will clearly not be in favor of Ukraine. Back in March, utility tariffs in the DPR were 40% lower than in Ukraine. But with the end of the heating season and meeting the demands of the IMF, a real tariff noose has been tightened around the necks of ordinary Ukrainians. Since May 1, gas alone has already cost the average citizen almost $270 per thousand cubic meters.
From July 1, heat prices for Ukrainians will rise again, and the gap with the pre-war tariff in force in the DPR will increase almost 5 times. Along with the increase in tariffs, the junta also received a deepening crisis of non-payments, which has already exceeded a billion hryvnia. Strengthening the tariff pressure and forcibly extracting payments from the impoverished population could lead the situation in the country to a social explosion, in comparison with which the last “Maidan” will seem like a child screaming on the lawn.
The situation with electricity is no better. From July 1, residents of Ukraine will pay 4 times more for electricity than in the DPR. So who actually has the “occupation”, I wonder?
Of course, it is very difficult for a republic under shelling and blockade to keep tariffs for the population at the pre-war level, but the DPR government is somehow looking for opportunities for this. In contrast to the Kyiv Vlada, there were permanent restrictions with redrawings, which left the population to escape and survive as best they could.
And, of course, the most important question online with Zakharchenko is “when will the war end?”, and, more broadly, “when will there be reconciliation with Ukraine?” Although, in fact, the first question most of all applies to Poroshenko and his curators from the State Department and the CIA. And here the position of the head of the DPR is unchanged: an immediate ceasefire, withdrawal of troops and heavy weapons first of all, direct dialogue between Kyiv and the leadership of the republics.
It immediately follows from this that without ending the ATO there will be no reconciliation. But so far, Poroshenko’s entire policy towards Donbass boils down to his long-standing statement “their children will live in basements.” It is the Ukrainian authorities who are responsible for the ongoing bloodshed and the collapse of the economy.
As Zakharchenko has already stated, the return of the republics to Ukraine will not occur earlier than its denazification. The conference with Zakharchenko is an opportunity for the people of Kiev to become convinced of the lies of the Poroshenko regime and begin to demand from the authorities real steps towards restoring peace.
