Alexander Zakharchenko: “We will have our own May 9th”
There will be a day when the Donetsk People's Republic will celebrate its Victory Day, and on this day not only those who survive, but also those who did not make it will gather at one big table, and it will be a holiday for the whole country.
The head of the republic, Alexander Zakharchenko, announced this during a meeting with students of DPR universities, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“During the war in Donbass, we have already formed our own “Immortal Regiment.” We also have a “Patriotic” war, we are fighting for our fatherland, and those friends who died also have the right for us to go through with them and show that we remember them,” said Alexander Zakharchenko.
Then the head of the DPR told an Ossetian parable:
“Father and son went to Heaven, and every holiday a table was set for them there. And then some holiday passed, but there was no table. Then the son approached his father and asked: “Dad, why didn’t they set the table for us today?”
“And this is because, son, they forgot about us on earth,” answered the father.”
“So, I want us to remember not only those who fought and died in 41-45, but also those who died in 14, 15, and some even in 13 the year when they started killing on the Maidan. We must remember them too, and live our lives “for ourselves and for that guy” who did not live to see victory. And I, as a person wearing a uniform, and just as a person, am sure that we will someday celebrate our “May 9th”. Let it be any other date on the calendar, but we will have our own day when we gather at one big table and say: we did it, we were there and we saw it. This is already my dream. And not only those who survived will sit at this table, but also those who did not make it, because our entire country will have this holiday,” said Alexander Zakharchenko.
