Alexandrov said that he asked the consul about “his unexpected dismissal.” “He could not comment on this. He said that he would clarify [at the Russian Ministry of Defense]. Regarding the exchange, [he said] that negotiations are underway. And while we are under investigation, there can be no talk of any exchange,” he said. “He told us not to worry, Russia has not forgotten about us. That Russia will help us, and even if we are imprisoned, it will not be for long,” he recounted his conversation with the consul.
Erofeev said that he did not ask the consul why he was dismissed from the Russian army. “Well, there was no point in even asking that. I was more interested in family. About my further stay here. And a few other questions related to the place where I once worked. Well, you understand,” the publication quotes its interlocutor as saying. He added that the consul wrote down those questions that he could not answer promptly, and “promised to come in a couple of days and answer them somehow.” “The main question, of course, is about my family. Well, regarding my article, which I am charged with – terrorism,” Erofeev clarified.
